August 2022 Wrap Up

Better late than never right! We are here, mid-September to wrap up the books I read in August. There's been a lot of life stuff going on so I have myself a couple week break, but now it's time to get caught back up! August started out really well with the Romance Takeover Readathon, but then my reading certainly took a dip and things got closer to the end of the month. I was at least able to finish the first bingo board for Summer of Swoon though!

August 2022

πŸ’— I read 13 books for 3,907 pages

πŸ’— I average 1.15 days per book
πŸ’— The average page count was 300.54
πŸ’— I read 3 books in the 100s, 4 in the 200s, 5 in the 300s, and 1 in the 600s

πŸ’— I read 8 books for clubs, readathons and readalongs
πŸ’— 4 books had diversity of some kind
πŸ’— I read 5 new authors
πŸ’— I didn't reread any books

πŸ’— I owned 5 books in paperback previously and added 4 to my wishlist
πŸ’— I read 5 books in paperback and 8 in eBook
πŸ’— I read 7 traditionally published books, 3 small published and 3 indie published
πŸ’— I read 2 books published in the 1990s, 1 in the 2000s, 6 in the 2010s and 4 in the 2020s

πŸ’— My average rating was 4.15 stars
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - 4 books
⭐⭐⭐⭐πŸ’« - 2 books
⭐⭐⭐⭐ - 4 books
⭐⭐⭐ - 3 books

πŸ’—  I read 3 historicals, 3 fantasies, 3 paranormals and 5 contemporary romances
πŸ’— My contemporary breakdown was 1 new adult, 2 rom-coms, 1 sports and 1 normal

1. Walking in Fire by Cathryn Cade ⭐⭐⭐

2. Under One Roof by Ali Hazelwood ⭐⭐⭐⭐

3. Never Sweeter by Charlotte Stein ⭐⭐⭐⭐

4. Gaslight Hades by Grace Draven ⭐⭐⭐⭐πŸ’«

5. Donut Fall in Love by Jackie Lau ⭐⭐⭐⭐πŸ’«

6. A Captivating Touch by Elsa Winckler ⭐⭐⭐

7. Second Star to the Left by Megan Van Dyke ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

8. Whispers on the Wind by Donna Fletcher ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

9. Proof by Seduction by Courtney Milan ⭐⭐⭐

10. Her Unexpected Roommate by Jackie Lau ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

11. Lord of the Vampires by Gena Showalter ⭐⭐⭐⭐

12. The Pirate Lord by Sabrina Jeffries ⭐⭐⭐⭐

13. Empire of Storms by Sarah J Maas ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

πŸ’— It's a hard choice for this month on my favorite, but I think Second Star to the Left just edges out Empire of Storms. My expectations weren't as high for it and it completely blew me away. My most disappointing would be A Captivating Touch. I just really struggled reading that one.

We'll see what September brings, but so far my reading is still a little slow. Hopefully it'll pick back up near the end of the month, but we'll see what I end up getting done. We've got the start of the 2nd annual Bang in the Night starting soon as well as halfway through the first month of Fall in Love.

How was your reading in August?

Bookishly Yours,

Stasi🍎
